Bixby, the Samsung Siri for your Galaxy S8
The South Korean company will launch its new terminal on March 29
Samsung will launch with its new Galaxy S8 a voice assistant itself that will control the applications of the terminal and will be called Bixby, the company said in a statement.
The S8 will include a button on the side to activate the voice assistant and enter the commands, without having to perform previous steps such as unlocking the phone, explained Samsung Electronics.
The new terminal will include several pre-installed launch applications for the voice assistant, to which others will be added later that can be controlled with Bixby.
The interface uses an artificial intelligence that allows you to control with your voice almost all the functions of an application that is handled in a tactile way and continue started tasks without needing to start again when you switch between one or the other.
Bixby is also "smart enough" to understand commands with incomplete information and execute the task as far as his knowledge allows before asking the user for more data to finish executing it, according to the statement.
"Bixby will be our first step in a journey to introduce new ways of interacting with the phone," said Samsung Electronics research and development chief Injong Rhe, who added that the interface will be updated through the cloud.
The company plans over time to launch a tool to allow third-party developers to create their own Bixby-compatible applications and services for terminals.
The Samsung project also includes extending the use of its new oral interface from its smartphones to all its appliances.
