The president of Uber resigns after six months in office

Jeff Jones had expressed dissatisfaction with the company's strategies

The passenger transport giant Uber has suffered a new blow with the departure of its president, Jeff Jones, just six months after he took office, according to US media.

The departure of the company's number two occurs after a series of difficulties for Uber. According to the technological news portal Recode, Jones had expressed dissatisfaction with the company's strategies. "It is now clear, however, that the beliefs and approach to leadership that have guided my career are inconsistent with what I saw and experienced at Uber, and I can no longer continue as president of the travel-sharing business," Jones said. in a statement to Recode.

Contacted by the Afp, the company has not confirmed the news, although the number one of Uber, Trevor Kalanick, had asked for the resignation of Jones.

The San Francisco-based company faces criticism for revelations about a sexist culture and the covert use of software to prevent vehicles from police checks. In addition, Kalanick had to abruptly resign from an advisory council of President Donald Trump after a consumer boycott campaign, worried that he was advising a ruler with divergent values.

Uber, which is not listed on the stock exchange, is valued at around 70,000 million dollars and operates in dozens of countries.
